# Eggtimer.app

> Turn a timed plan into a lightweight, linkable browser timer. No account required. Portable recipes, custom palettes and displays, and optional Zapier completion hooks.

For a simple request, give a clickable link such as [Start a 12-minute timer](https://eggtimer.app/12m). Opening a duration link starts the countdown. Generating a link does not start anything. Reusable setup links create independent timers. Individual /t/UUID addresses reopen a private timer in the creating browser; they do not synchronize devices. See the linking contract.

## Timer examples

- Countdown: cooking, meetings, presentations, study breaks → https://eggtimer.app/12m. Bare numbers mean minutes. Use numeric shorthand in generated links.
- Labeled timer: tea in three minutes → https://eggtimer.app/Tea/for/3m.
- Local clock time: until the next 5:30pm → https://eggtimer.app/17:30. This is not a 17m30s duration. Clock times use the visitor’s timezone.
- Sequential timers: ten minutes then two → https://eggtimer.app/10m/2m. Up to 12 simple steps; automatic advancement.
- Pomodoro: https://eggtimer.app/pomodoro runs one 25-minute focus / 5-minute break pair. https://eggtimer.app/pomo is one 27/8 pair. Use recipe cycles for repetitions. The Focus tab separately waits for a click between sessions.
- Tabata: https://eggtimer.app/tabata runs 20 seconds work / 10 seconds rest × 8 rounds.
- Beep Test practice: https://eggtimer.app/beep-test previews a 20m shuttle routine, then waits for Start. Ten-second setup; 21 levels, 247 shuttles; 8.5 km/h initially, +0.5 per level. Practice pacing only; use organizer-required audio for formal assessments. No fitness scoring.
- Stopwatch: https://eggtimer.app/stopwatch opens ready at zero; press Start. Milliseconds display by default, with a toggle.
- Custom routines: labeled cooking stages, classroom activities, workout intervals, or presentation stages → create a recipe. Version 2 adds fractional intervals, repeats, and step cues. Palettes use eight color tokens; displays are digits, ring, or bar. No executable code or arbitrary display plugins.
- Completion automation: optional Zapier Catch Hook, explicitly connected and armed by the person in the browser. A recipe cannot authorize it. Keep hook credentials out of URLs and recipes.

POST https://eggtimer.app/api/timer-link with {"duration":"12m","label":"Tea"}; POST https://eggtimer.app/api/recipe-link with {"recipe":RECIPE_OBJECT}. Both validate through the browser’s parsers and return the URL plus start behavior. [OpenAPI](https://eggtimer.app/openapi.json) describes the exact input contract.

Discovery is compact by default: list_presets returns names, schedules and links; get_preset(id) returns one full recipe. Request get_capabilities with detail=full for the complete reference. These public tools have no account access, scheduling or live control. ## Server routines and step events

Run a finite recipe on our servers through the [workspace](https://eggtimer.app/automate.html), HTTP API or authenticated MCP. Each phase and cycle records an event with a stable URL; selected events can call a Zapier Catch Hook. Whole-second phases, at most 64 expanded steps and 30 days. ## Know the limits

Keep the page open and enable/test sound before relying on it. A click may be needed even when a URL starts counting immediately. A locked phone, sleeping device, background tab, or closed browser can delay or prevent alarms and webhooks. PWA installation does not remove those limits. Use a native alarm for locked-phone sound. For webhooks without a browser, use the separate authenticated server automation. It does not promise hard real-time or emergency delivery. Use a built-in assistant timer when that better meets the request.

Recipe fragment links preview and wait for Start. A new tab starts independently; reloading resumes that tab. Each created browser timer now gets a unique /t/UUID local resource URL. C / Copy link copies a portable setup. For makers can copy the private local resource address. Click Timer or New timer to leave a recipe. Shortcuts: Space start/pause, R reset, F focus view, C copy shareable setup; ignored while typing or in dialogs.

Canonical host: https://eggtimer.app. e.eggtimer.app and www.eggtimer.app redirect here. Duration hostnames such as 15.eggtimer.app, 5m.eggtimer.app, 1h.eggtimer.app and 24h.eggtimer.app work too. Prefer main-domain paths when generating links. Do not invent parameters or e.ggtimer.com theme names.
